  • I had an incredibly fun time in NYC last weekend. I’m just getting around to encapsulate a few thoughts:

    • The financial district near Battery Park is a great place to put your head on a pillow at night
    • Jayne knows New York better than anyone (saved huge time in subways and must go places, despite me saying we were picking up a previous trail of popcorn)
    • A great place to rendezvous with a dear friend who is your cousin (Kay)
    • When traveling for a weekend getaway, leave more than 20 minutes for showering and packing
    • When arriving, just role with it
    • Pack plenty-O-Advil & Tylenol (for obvious reasons)
    • Make sure to call significant friends only when you get to the airport (spontaneously meeting up friends of yesteryear is a gift for both)
    • Eat French food in New York
    • Do sub-indie cultural things (like Bang On a Can & The Whitney)

As we were leaving the BOAC after seeing a brilliant, short performance by Owen Pallett of Final Fantasy, this stopped us dead in our tracks. Bora Yoon was playing “Plinko” which begins with a cell phone to establish the melodic drone that she builds on. I don’t recall if we got the glockenspiel.

This one is a work in progress. I like the groove I’ve got going . I’d love your feedback. this is just 1/2 of the first verse, and I’m loopin’ with keys (most who know me are questioning where is the guitar). That said, I’m diggin’ the keys right now, as horrible as I am.

While this is not my original, this is a great song by a great friend (a cover). I’ve been on a steep learning curve with sound editing . . .

Recorded this on the night of my birthday.

Finally, a long stand by (OK, not a fan of Duritz these days). But something we’ve performed at least eighty times.

    • Sub-indie. I think that is what I will call the type of music I like right now. #
    • Yeah, well OK. Still @ the pub. The race is surely over. #
