Sound from HD flat panels can be a major disappointed. After all, manufacturers have to pack speakers into a very thin form factor. My first recommendation would be to use high-end loud speakers with a proper A/V integrated amplifier and turn the TV speakers off. This is not an option for many. If you are rolling with the Samsung A550 series, I highly recommend Rye82’s audio settings for amazing sound improvement (source: AVS Forum, LNxxA550 Calibration/Settings Thread).
