Spartans and Ducks!

I love college football, and my beloved alma mater’s Michigan State and Oregon. They both commence their season’s today. The Ducks host Washington in Eugene while the Spartans travel West to Berkeley to play California.

I love this time of year. Summer is coming to a close and you can feel the tease in the air. Rackets are swinging for another week in Flushing. College football begins.

S O. Who do I spend more time with tonight while increasing my BBQ skills? Both games will be nationally televised. More importantly, what is the 2008 outlook for MSU and UO?

Time to get some sports fodder on this relaunched, skinny blog! As we approach the US Open, NYT did a bit on John McEnroe.

This guy is genius. He is the one man act of Final Fantasy. Saw him in NYC at Bang On a Can earlier in the summer, and I think he is someone you should know about. Owen did orchestral and string arrangements on both Funeral and Neon Bible for Arcade Fire. Here are two vids of This Lamb Sells Condos. Owen plays and loops piano on the second.

Laughing at myself still. One month ago, I relaunched “me” under the moniker caffeinacation with an integrated microblog. This failed (rather fell out of interest) attempt was a bad New Coke experiment. Certainly don’t bookmark it as I’m killing it.

A friend’s blog turned me on to this. If were an agency guy, I would want to be at W+K (or that Mad Men agency): nike.com/courage.

The Dodos of course. Brilliant performance at Pitchfork. Here at Neumos in Seattle:

  • Wish I had this vantage point. Thank goodness the two clappers in the audience just stopped clapping (yeah, well, you have no rhythm, and this isn’t a clapping song).

For those who know me, this band from Glasgow, Scotland is a 2008 summer staple. Do buy their music.
